Hello!

a bit about me:

For most of my life, I've been involved with music -- from dancing to it as a toddler, to writing, arranging, teaching, recording, directing, conducting, and performing it today. I grew up around music.

After starting private lessons on the alto saxophone in third grade, I went on to play with audition-only groups in middle school and high school. Deciding to take my passion for music and my love of teaching children to the next level, I studied at the Ithaca College School of Music and received my Bachelor's degree in Music Education in 2002. In 2010, I earned my Master of Arts degree in saxophone performance from Montclair State University. My musical journey has taken me through composing, performing, recording, directing, conducting, teaching, and most importantly -- a deep understanding of and connection to music.

While the saxophone is my first love, I enjoy performing on and recording clarinet, flute, oboe, cor Anglais, drums, bass, and voice. Currently, I play the soprano saxophone with the Metropolitan Saxophone Quartet. I have also played with the Ridgewood Concert Band and the Eastern Wind Symphony. In my performing career, I specialize in classical and Broadway styles, and I have performed professionally in over 50 stage productions. My Manhattan credits include substitute reeds in Disney's Tarzan on Broadway, lead alto with Tim Janis and Matthew Morrison (Glee) at Carnegie Hall, and tenor saxophone on Victor Woo: Average Asian American at the Village Theater.

I have studied privately with Peter Potosky (New Jersey Pops), William Shadel (Broadway, Papermill Playhouse, Colonial Symphony), Dr. Steven Mauk(solo/recording artist, Empire Saxophone Quartet, North American Saxophone Alliance Past President), Dr. Paul Cohen (solo/recording artist, New Hudson Saxophone Quartet, publisher) and have taken lessons with Carron Moroney (Celtic Theatre Company, solo/recording artist) and Charles Pillow (Broadway, solo/recording artist, Woody Hermans' Thundering Young Herd, Orpheus Chamber Ensemble, The Long Island Philharmonic, The New Orleans Symphony).

My teaching credentials include elementary, middle, and high school band and private lessons. My private students range from beginners through college audition-aged. Some of my students have auditioned successfully for select groups within their schools, and within the state.
